- 'Beekeeping in the Midwest' - NIAS Monthly Meeting and Potluck Dinner, 6:00 p.m., Oakdale Lodge just 3 miles south of Freeport off of Baileyville Rd.
Terry Ingram of Apple Creek Apiaries will provide a program addressing the issues of beekeeping in the Midwest. His program will discuss insights into CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder), local honey and the effects of agriculture chemicals on pollinators. Terry is a certified bird bander, executive director and founder of the Eagle Nature Foundation, member and past Co-Chairman of the Savanna Army Deport Restoration Advisory Board. He and his wife, Nancy, are owners of Apple Creek Apiaries in Apple River, which bottles and sells from six to ten tons of honey per year. Please bring a dish to pass and complete table service for the potluck dinner, which starts at 6:00 p.m. Beverages will be provided..
